Combo move

  • Build your own working codex
  • 34 pieces are scored and ready for you to punch out and put together
  • A great project for makers young and old

If you want your stuff to stay your stuff, in certain situations, you're going to have to lock it up. But you don't want to go to the hardware store and pick up a boring padlock that looks exactly like everyone else's. That's not you. Fool those would-be burglars and amaze your friends with this Mechanical DIY Combination Lock.

Inspired by The Da Vinci Code, this codex-style lock really works. But it doesn't work until you put it together, because it's a kit. Made from premium grade plywood, the 34 pieces are scored and ready for you to punch out and put together. It's a fun project that requires no tools (although you may wish to have a craft knife handy and a small hammer to help things fit). We recommend that little kids have adult supervision, to help understand instructions, provide brute force, and to keep the smaller pieces from snapping. And once you're done, you have an actual functioning lock that can protect your goodies.
