Drink up, me hearties. Yo ho!

  • Tea infuser in the shape of a skull and crossbones
  • Tell people you take your tea seriously
  • We've nicknamed ours the Grim Steeper

The venerable skull-and-crossbones design dates back to the early 18th century, when naval pirates would fly their flags to signify that they wouldn't follow standard maritime rules of engagement, and that merchants should give up without a fight or face brutal and bloody murder.

Pirates are known for their carousing. Little known fact: what pirates actually drank was tea.* They claimed it was rum so they'd seem more dastardly, but they knew that there's nothing better than riding the waves, sitting on the deck watching the sun set on the horizon while sipping a nice cup of Earl Grey. But you can't let the other sailors know that! You'll never live it down. Hence the rum thing.

Steep your tea in the tradition of pirates and privateers alike with this Tea Bones Skull & Crossbones Tea Infuser. Open up the skull (like 'ya do). Fill it with loose-leaf tea. At this point, it helps set the atmosphere if you yell out a vehement, "Walk the plank, you rapscallion" and drop the skull to the bottom of your mug. Pour boiling water over the skull (like 'ya do). And wait patiently before you pull the whole contraption up by the crossbones.

* Ed. note: Actually not a fact. We made this up.
