Has a Lot of "Space"

  • Messenger bag looks like something from NASA
  • Has a lot of "space" - 12 different storage areas
  • A ThinkGeek creation and exclusive

What do you leave your house with every day? Keys, wallet, book, medication. And if you're going away for the weekend? Add a change of clothes, second pair of shoes, toiletries, devices and their chargers. And if you're going into space? Wait. What? You'd think you'd need to take more, right? But no. NASA's Personal Preference Kit is 5" x 8" x 2". Yeaaaaah. That's about the size of one of the pouches on our bag.

We've upgraded the PPK. It now looks suspiciously similar to a planetside messenger bag. And it fits your laptop! Or it might. You'll have to check out the specs below to be sure, but for sure the original PPK didn't fit your laptop. This has a much greater probability.

The Space Odyssey Messenger Bag. The outside (which is white) measures 12" high x 21" wide x 4" deep and has a flap which reads "XVB-01" in red embroidery in a NASA-esque font down the front and has a 5" high x 4" wide x 1 1/2" deep pouch with a flap secured by hook-and-loop with snaps on the outside. The flap is secured with two quick release clips and also a horizontal hook-and-loop strip. Under the flap hide two more pouches with flaps secured by hook-and-loop, these 5" high x 3" wide x 1 1/2" deep, plus two pen / stylus holders and a zipped pocket that measures 7" wide x 6" high. The sides of the bag each have an additional 5" high x 4" wide x 1 1/2" deep pouch with a flap secured by hook-and-loop. The bottom of the bag is finished off with black rubber feet to protect it. It has a both a black, rubber, top handle and a white nylon shoulder strap with a padded shoulder protector with no-slip fabric on the back.

The inside (which is silver) features a padded sleeve for your laptop or tablet that measures 16" wide x 9 1/2" tall x 1" thick. Note that if your laptop is 16" wide but 10" tall, it will still fit because the top is open, secured with a hook-and-loop strap. The main compartment measures 11 1/2" high x 18" wide x 3" deep and includes 2 bottle holders on the side (with grommets) and a 11" wide x 9 1/2" high zippered pocket.

"Will my laptop fit in this bag, ThinkGeek?" Let's find out together!

Laptop Fitting Guide
Measure your laptop.
Like TVs, laptops are listed by their measurement on the diagonal. Bags, on the other hand, are measured on the edges. Not all 17" laptops are the same size, so you'll need to measure the length & width of your closed laptop.

"But my laptop is at home, ThinkGeek!"
If you can't wait, Google has superpowers to tell you the dimensions of your laptop if you ask it nicely. Just input the make and model of your laptop and ye shall receive.

"I've got the measurements! Now what?"
Compare your laptop's measurements to the measurements of the bag. If the laptop's measurements are smaller than the bag, it fits! If one or more of the laptop's measurements are bigger, you're out of luck with this bag. Try another.
