No, I Will Not Fix Your Computer - American Apparel
Tell Them How You Really Feel
Why is it that knowing a lot about computers makes you everybody's little helper? Show them in no uncertain terms that they're on their own. Let ThinkGeek tell your friends and family how you really feel.
Raise your hand if you're constantly being asked to help other people with their petty computer problems. Of course if your job description dictates that you have to fix other people's computers, then there is nothing so frustrating as being forced to do so on your time off.
Actual transcript of parent/child tech support:
"My new printer doesn't turn on."
"Did you check to make sure it's plugged in?"
"Plugged in? But I don't have to plug it in. It says it's wireless."
What was it Arthur C. Clarke said? "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Yep. It's magic. And those of us who can fix it are sorcerers and wizards and magicians. And it'll be less complicated if we just leave it at that.
