The ThinkGeek Newsletter!

January 26, 2006

Dear Sentient Beings,

There are two important facts we stumbled upon recently that we feel you should be made aware of. First is that starting January 29th, the Chinese New Year kicks into full gear. 2005 was the year of the Rooster and 2006 is the year of... drum roll please... the Dog! w00f!. And it's actually the year 4703 in China, not 2006, so apparently they had a head start. The second fact we stumbled upon is that it's Superbowl Sunday next weekend. We have created a list of three things you should do instead of watching the Superbowl, 1) Watch Battle bots reruns, 2) Host a LAN Party, 3) Buy a TV-B-Gone from ThinkGeek and visit your local Sports Bar... *click*

Valentines Day Stuff for Geeks

Apparently there is this concept called a relationship where two entities interact with each other in ways that at least one of those entities considers meaningful. Kind of like Hal9000 and Dave. Or R2 and C3P0. Supposedly somebody then decided there should be an entire day devoted to nothing but the observation of such relationships. Why? We haven't figured it out yet completely. We just know it means you want to get appropriately unique gifts for whomever your special entity is. Our special entity is still in Beta, otherwise we would share more details.

Deflexion Laser Game - The Past's Future, Available Today

Deflexion Laser Game - The Past's Future, Available Today

There are many theories as to why the Ancient Egyptians built the Great Pyramids. The truth is, they were planning to host the biggest Deflexion game in the galaxy! Deflexion is a combination of chess and laser tag. You move a piece and then fire your laser, bouncing the beam from mirrored piece to mirrored piece, in an effort to tag pieces out and win the game. In Ancient times, the Venusians were going to supply the big lasers, but today you get it all without the necessity of space travel: pieces, board, lasers... even batteries!

USB Data Transfer Device - Easy PC to PC Transfers

Shuffling around files between various computers can sometimes be a pain, especially sans network. Maybe you have a flash drive or USB hard drive and those will usually get the job done but not necessarily very well. The USB Data Transfer Device is a new product that offers the perfect solution - simply plug it in and start transferring your data between two computers. It automatically displays the entire contents of each PC enabling you to quickly drag-n-drop files and file folders from one machine to the other. Cube World - Digital Stick People In A Box

Cube World - Digital Stick People In A Box

Cube World is a complex community of digital people who, well, live in boxes. They each have their own unique behavior set. One has a dog, another a ball, etc. But it gets better. The boxes they live in have magnetic contacts on four sides (conduits we might say) so that they might connect with other Cube World folks. When connected, Cube World folks interact with one another in amazing ways. It's that simple. And complex. And therein lies the fundamental pleasure with Cube World. They have free will! At least that's what we tell them so they stay happy. Enjoy endless hours of bliss watching things in a box here:

Cardboard Cube Speakers - Please Recycle

Looking for micro frequency ceramic tweeters with a dual quad 57Hz crossover? How about triple in-line woofers with wide surround dispersion technology? Sorry... we're all out. Instead we have these fine Cardboard Cube Speakers made from the same quality material as the box your iPod came in. Simply fold-up these processed corrugated cardboard beauties, plug them into your portable audio player or computer and start jammin'. Dried wood pulp never sounded this good! When you're finished drop these in the recycling bin to avoid becoming a burden on society's future landfills. Thanks!

USB Calculator - Adds Up to Coolness

USB Calculator - Adds Up to Coolness

Hey we love USB... but for every hundred useless USB gizmos there is about one practical USB gadget. The USB Calculator is a diamond in the USB rough so to speak. It works as a stand-alone battery operated calculator (and a stylish one at that). But plug it into the USB port on your computer or laptop and the fun really begins. You can use it as a fully functional numeric keypad to augment your skimpy laptop keyboard. If you do a calculation on the calculator screen you can paste the result to your computer using the handy "send" button. USB and practical... who would have thunk it?

The ToolLogic Firesteel Knife incorporates fire starting capability along with a razor sharp blade and emergency signal whistle. The Swedish made Firesteel combined with a special notch on the blade delivers an intense shower of sparks at over 2500 degrees Fahrenheit. Even sparks when wet! Get fired up here:

Four New Giant Plush Microbes To Tempt The Fates

We've got four new flavors of your favorite microbes and maladies in infectiously cute plush available. Having a Lousy Day? Pick up a Head Lice microbe and scratch away at your problems. Just be happy that you don't have Mad Cow disease, which, it turns out, is really cute. For all you insomniacs out there, make sure you pick up a Sleeping Sickness microbe, it's not as harmless as it sounds. In fact it's downright scary. Our new favorite might have to be the E.Coli Microbe though. Why? It has Tendril-like thingies! Get a grip on the small stuff here:

USB Beverage Chiller - helps keep your Bawls cool

USB Beverage Chiller - helps keep your Bawls cool

We all know that too many hours of gaming or coding can leave your mind feeling a bit haggard. Sometimes you just need to take a break and revive yourself with a cold blue bottle of Bawls. The USB Beverage Chiller is a little device that can help keep your Bawls (or other randomly caffeinated beverages) cool using a cold plate that chills to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. It simply connects via USB for power and cools down very quickly. It won't be able to cool a warm drink but it will help keep it cold for a longer period of time. Perfect for any desk where there's not ample room for a mini-fridge.

Tetran Cable Winder - Earbuds are Delicious

After feeding our staff of highly caffeinated monkeys rubber superballs for several weeks Tetran was created. We don't know exactly how it happened and monkeys don't talk. Suffice to say that Tetran appears to be some kind of cute earbud cord keeper. Pop earbuds into his mouth and wind them around his body. He doesn't seem to mind. Attach him to your backpack or use him as a key chain. Tetran also makes a great stress reliever. Squeeze him when you are angry or frustrated at the suits... Tetran is your very good friend... we think.
