Every day, rain or shine, and often remotely in the wee hours, SysAdmins get to work protecting your inbox, routing the internets, shoring up your network, and monitoring your web history.* All this while fighting back lusers who still--still--haven't learned to restart before picking up the phone. (Maybe they're from the past?)
So to celebrate SysAdmin Day on July 30th, we want to give one extraordinary SysAdmin exactly what he or she needs: PROTECTION.
Prizes in our SysAdmin Survival Pack:
- Handmade, one-of-a-kind steampunk .75 caliber pop gun by Clayton Bailey (to fend off lusers)
- USB Rocket Launcher
- Luxeed U5 Dynamic Pixel LED Keyboard
- Timmy's Tactical Attaché
- StealthSwitch II
- Gunnar Computer Glasses (in style of choice)
- "No I will not fix your computer" t-shirt (for weekends, of course)
- Swiss Flash USB Knife
- C.H.I.M.P. Rearview Monitor Mirror
- Universal Network Cable
We need your help finding this most worthy SysKing or SysQueen of 2010--and yes, there's something in it for you, too.
Submit your nominating mini-essay (1,000 characters or less) by midnight on July 25, 2010 and if your SysAdmin nominee wins, you'll snag a $100 gift certificate. Sorry, we're only able to award entries from the US and Canada (other than Quebec) at this time; here's the legalese.
On July 26 we'll post our favorite 10 nominees on the blog and open up the field to voting through July 29th. We'll announce our winner and 4 $25-winning runners-up on July 30th, SysAdmin Day, with great fanfare and reverence.
If you enter, good luck! And if you don't, good luck--you'll need it if your SysAdmin finds out.
*Probably not in an evil way, like to extort you, but they could, you know. Not that this is a threat or anything. Certainly not.
