Srs Timmy is srs for a minute:

As you may have seen in the news this last week, a previously unknown vulnerability dubbed "heartbleed" has been identified within the SSL architecture that affects many internet sites you visit over HTTPS.

The good news is that ThinkGeek.com is not one of the vulnerable sites. The vulnerability lies in a commonly used library called OpenSSL, which is used by many sites for both creating their certificates and managing their SSL connections. While we do use OpenSSL in a limited capacity, our actual site certificates are not handled by OpenSSL, and were not generated using OpenSSL. We will be conducting some patching in the coming weeks just to be safe, but you don't have to worry about this vulnerability affecting your experience on ThinkGeek.com. Huzzah!

A wall of loot!

Dear geeks of Northern Europe, Spain, Portugal, & New Zealand: We have good news!

It started with our Canadian friends, then our Australian, UK, and German geeks were invited to the party. Now, this party just got a whole lot bigger!

Our palletmonkey Michelle has been working *really* hard, and economy shipping is now available to:

  • The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Spain, and New Zealand

YAY! We're going to have to get a bigger room for this party. (Which country wants to host?!)

Here are the shiny details:

  • Economy shipping is only available on small orders under $100 for light things 4lbs (1.8 kilograms) or less, so you can't use it to ship a Tauntaun Sleeping Bag on the cheap.
  • You can, however, order up a bunch of shirts and annoy-a-trons like you've always wanted.
  • There will be no tracking on these economically-shipped orders, so their arrival dates will be a happy surprise.
  • Your package will be delivered via your country's local post, and we've heard that it's extremely convenient when compared to other methods.
  • It's quite slow, but a LOT cheaper.

It took us awhile, but the basic message that we want to get across: We hear you. We know that international shipping was painful and that's why we're offering this economy option. We hope to continue expanding the list of countries we can ship to via this method!

Enjoy your cheaply-shipped loot and let us know what you think! If you have questions, we'll try to find the answers for you.

ThinkGeek's SCOTTEVEST Travel Con-test!

Ever been standing in line for your favorite panel at a convention and realize your phone is about to die? Now how are you going to let the world know you met *insert famous person here*?! Don't worry, ThinkGeek & SCOTTEVEST have got you covered.

Enter below by 11:59pm ET, Monday, April 14 for the chance to win a fully furnished, con & travel-ready SeV Tropiformer Jacket. One lucky winner will receive over $1,000 worth of prizes including an iPad mini (pictured below), as long as you can correctly guess the weight of the jacket with all the items inside.

UPDATE: So sorry for the wait, guys! The winner has already been contacted, but for those who wanted to know the correct weight, it was 7.144 pounds. Congratulations to Sarah B. from Dresher, PA for the winning guess! Now you're fully prepared for con season.

Tropiformer & prizes

The jacket transforms into a vest! Here it is with all the prizes pictured on the right, inside.

Please Note:

  • The only unit of measurement we will accept is pounds! (Sorry, it's just simpler and yes, we're silly Americans.) Please convert ounces to decimals and enter ONLY THE NUMBER in the form. For instance, 5 pounds 3 ounces is 5.1875 pounds, and you would enter "5.1875" in the form.
  • One entry per person, please. We will only consider your first submission, even if you've changed your mind, so make sure you're set on your answer!
  • You can enter on this blog post or on our contest page, but NOT both. Remember: there can only be one!
  • The winner is the person who guesses the closest to the correct weight, without exceeding it. In the event of a tie, the winner will be selected randomly from those entrants.
  • Only the countries listed in the form can participate; if your country is not listed, sorry! Timmy sends you all his love and e-bananas.
  • Looking for the legalese? You can find it here.

ThinkGeek loves Game of Thrones

The Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere is coming.

The monkeys in the office are going bananas! (Yes, we said it. B-a-n-a-n-a-s.) Timmy's got his Jon Snow outfit on & everything. After the long wait, we can finally delve back into the lands of Westeros!

Here's what our monkeys are most looking forward to:

  • "'The next wedding.' Book readers will get it, but I think it is vague enough for those that don't." -- Kochis, Merchant Monkey
  • "MOAR DRAGONS! But seriously, I am really excited to see Daenerys continue to be a warrior princess and kick more butt. And who doesn't love Tyrion's fantastic one-liners?" -- Elizabeth, Email Monkey
  • "Hodor!" -- Midgley, Graphic Design Monkey
  • "I'm most looking forward to the part where *REDACTED* wakes up and sees *REDACTED* and realizes that it was all a *REDACTED*. Also, the part when *REDACTED* takes that enormous *REDACTED* and *REDACTED* right into *REDACTED* and twists and *REDACTED* it until *REDACTED* *REDACTED* *REDACTED* *REDACTED*."-- Harrison, Geek Labs Monkey
  • Daenerys & one of her dragons
  • "More weddings." -- Veton, Operations Monkey
  • "Looking forward to Arya's continued journey now that there is nowhere safe for a Stark to hide. Wondering how much bigger the dragons will get this season and if they will be any more useful. Hoping Bran digs into his Warg side a lot more, and fast. Only so long you can expect him to survive north of the wall. Jon. Jonjonjon. WTH? Where does he even go from there? Hope Lady Margaery stabs Joffrey through the eye on their wedding night. Or Vasarys poisons him with something painful. Whichever. Better than he deserves." -- Fred, Engineering Monkey
  • "Who dies next!" -- Andrea, Accounting Monkey
  • "Remember the Red Wedding? Next seasons is supposed to have the White Wedding episode with Jaime shouting at Cersei, 'Hey little sister what have you done? Hey little sister who's the only one?'" -- Michael C., Code Monkey
  • "I need an excuse to make lemon cakes and drink a goblet of wine." -- Kristy, Graphic Design Monkey
  • "What is always so interesting about Game of Thrones are the characters. It's a revolving door of new characters and old. It's exciting to watch as each of their story lines get closer and closer together. It's like that old word problem, "' train leaves Westeros at a speed of 100 mph and another leaves Dorne going 70 mph. When will they meet?'" -- Alicia, Geek Labs Monkey
  • "I can't wait to see how cool the dragons have gotten... and how badass!!" -- Connie, Office Monkey

As you can see, all we've got on our minds are dragons and weddings.

What are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
