ThinkGeek Geek Trivia Night

All the teams on stage during our Final Jeopardy round!

We're floored by the energy you brought last Thursday to Geek Trivia Night at Jammin Java! We were a bit nervous how our second time around would go, but you showed us we had nothing to worry about. It turned out to be a fantastic evening filled with fun, friendly competition in a room full of geeks being geeks. (Timmy feels so at home with you all - it's like he's known you forever!)

Council of Elders

Our judges for the night! We present to you: the Council of Elders.

All the teams brought their A-game that night, with several returning teams, including the winners from last trivia night, the Brute Squad. After the first round, we could tell it was gonna be anybody's game. The second round of movie clips, where teams were shown Stan Lee cameos and had to name the movie, brought all the scores even closer.

Then, things got interesting. We promised an epic mystery bonus round and we meant it. The challenge? BACON-EATING COMPETITION! The cheer and excitement from the crowd nearly knocked our socks off! Each team had the option of selecting one teammate to go on stage and consume delicious bacon.

The Darkest Timeline

After another close two rounds, it came down to the finale: Final Jeopardy. Teams could wager any amount of points that they currently had and picked one teammate to go up on stage and answer the question. The category? Literature. The question:

"The 1990 novel "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" is a collaboration between which two authors?"

Know the answer? If you said, "Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett," then you are correct! Many of our teams knew the answer as well, so it came down to how many points were wagered. So who won? Was it the Brute Squad again? Timmy's Minions, the team that placed second last time? Or I am Jack's Collection of Geeks, who came back with a vengeance?

The Sea Monkeys

The Sea Monkeys with Steve the MC!

The winners are... the Sea Monkeys! A returning team who did not place last time, but wagered almost all their points this time around and walked away with 679 points out of a possible 1018. Each member won a $75 gift certificate and Furry Adventure Slippers. Our second place team was Wibbly Wobbly Teamy Weamy, who received $30 gift certificates and Star Wars Family Decals. In third was I am Jack's Collection of Geeks, redeeming themselves and walking away with $25 gift certificates. Congratulations to all our teams!

Thanks again to Jammin Java for hosting & all our awesome attendees! We hope you're ready for more in September. We'll keep you posted, so keep an eye out!

P.S. One lucky attendee got to go home with this:

Star Wars trench toss

Yep, that's right. Our April fools' Star Wars trench toss prototype!
