It's a frakkin' rocket in your pocket

In the hands of a skilled fighter jock, the Mk. II viper can run rings around a Cylon Raider, has an average kill ratio of fifteen-to-one, and is so maneuverable, it can stop on a dime and give you nine cubits change. It's no wonder that the best pilots fly the venerable Mk. II and not those rattletrap glorified computer terminals they call Mk. IV's.

Before you take one out for a spin, however, you need to make sure you get the keys from the deck chief. After giving you felgercarb for having brought back the last Viper in less than perfect shape, it's a wonder he'll even let you fly, but toasters don't shoot themselves. Those keys in your hand represent the freedom of flight, the defense of the fleet, and life for the Colonials.

You stare in awe at the keys in your hand - what's that dangling from the chain? It's a tiny Viper Mk. II! Perfect in every detail from the stubby vertical stabilizer to the itty bitty kinetic energy guns below the dorsal engine intakes. It's downright adorable, and your eyes get a bit misty.

"Hey Chief," you call out. "This tiny Viper is cool. Thanks!"

Chief turns, his orange deck suit crinkles. He offers a lopsided grin and gives you a nod. "No problem," he says, "it's to remind you of what your ship is supposed to look like when you get back."
