    Builder of LEGO Brick Creations

    Do you love LEGO? Are you a wizard when it comes to building crazy unique creations? Then come help ThinkGeek develop some brick based awesomeness with our own LEGO compatible building sets.

    You'll be working with our internal GeekLabs product design team. You might even get to work on some of the top sci-fi and gaming licenses in the world including Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Portal, Game of Thrones, Minecraft, and DOTA.

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

    • Great hands-on LEGO building skills
    • Ability to create accurate building instructions and list of parts for models
    • Good knowledge of geek pop culture
    • Self-starter, deadline focused, easy-going personality
    • 40 hours per week availability Monday-Friday
    • A photographic portfolio of your past LEGO building creations

    Ideally, candidates for this job can be at our Fairfax VA headquarters, Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week. This is a contract position ineligible for benefits.

    Buyer, Women's Apparel

    The ThinkGeek Overlords are seeking a Women’s Apparel Buyer to maintain and grow ThinkGeek’s unique apparel line.

    What you will be doing:

    • Sourcing and buying products for the following categories by researching product lines and identifying new opportunities: 
      • Women’s Tanks, Tops and Babydolls,  Pajamas, Slippers, Robes (Unisex),  Socks, Underwear, and Accessories
    • Achieving business results by partnering with Inventory Management to develop plans and exit strategies, and review and update open-to-buy
    • Staying on top of new ideas and trends in apparel, especially in the geek pop culture realm
    • Reacting to seasonal / current trends and recognizing potential product voids
    • Developing and managing vendor relationships; establishing partnerships, performing vendor analysis, negotiating contract terms
    • Working with the Inventory Management group on replenishment to ensure your products are in stock

    What we’re looking for:

    • College degree or equivalent work experience
    • 3-6 years experience as product manager or buyer (apparel or accessories background strongly preferred)
    • Retail / e-commerce experience strongly desired
    • Strong and agile work ethic that allows you to quickly adapt to changing situations / trends
    • Ability to deal with vendors (via phone and in person) in difficult circumstances with complete professionalism
    • Ambitious, creative and aggressive, but equally humble and collaborative
    • Expert spreadsheet, computer, and Internet skills
    • A passion for Internet and geek culture
    • Ability to travel to various Apparel trade shows or to visit vendors

    E-Commerce Marketing Manager, Marketplace Development

    ThinkGeek, the premier e-tailer serving the global geek community (Internet Retailer #185), is seeking an E-Commerce Manager, Marketplace Development to launch and manage third-party marketplace channels.

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing, the E-Commerce Manager will be responsible for maximizing sales through eBay initially with the potential to expand to other marketplaces. The successful candidate has impeccable project management skills and is experienced at driving operational excellence in a digital environment.

    The E-Commerce Manager will launch the marketplace before the holiday season of 2014 in coordination with internal and external partners and then excel at the daily management of product feeds and listings, marketing campaigns, coordination with customer service, and analysis of customer purchase behavior. The successful candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and manages high-volume work with impeccable accuracy. Above all, they are driven by the opportunity to own and manage the sales for a new channel.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with internal IT and creative resources, build and launch eBay storefront for ThinkGeek
    • Using third-party software, effectively manage listings and product feed to ensure accurate listings with a high potential to appear in relevant search results on eBay
    • Coordinate closely with merchandising and inventory to implement pricing strategy effectively and drive conversion.
    • Read and react to business on a daily basis, including but not limited to implementing changes to product titles, descriptions, and pricing
    • Maximize reach within eBay by utilizing all available marketing tools
    • Utilize Daily Deals to drive traffic and conversion for key listings
    • Coordinate with Merchandising and Inventory to test clearance-related strategies
    • Develop and manage timely response and/or resolution processes with customer service and social marketing team around marketplace issues related to customer feedback through social media and other channels
    • Provide the Customer Service and Warehouse Operations teams with actionable insights into customer ratings and feedback in order to achieve Top Seller Status for ThinkGeek on eBay
    • Report on daily sales metrics as well as analyze sales patterns by category and top-selling items
    • Work with analytics and customer marketing team to understand the percentage of new customers that come through eBay as well as repeat buyers within eBay and through the ThinkGeek website.

    Skills and Requirements

    • 3-5 years of e-commerce experience in marketing
    • Experience with third-party channels such as affiliate marketing strongly preferred
    • Experience working with third-party marketplace tools such as ChannelAdvisor, Mercent, or Solid Commerce desired
    • Working knowledge of basic e-commerce concepts around the relationship between sales and margin
    • High proficiency with Excel
    • Experience with high-throughput processes where accuracy is critical
    • Excellent skills in collaboration and influence both internally and with external partners
    • Strong communicator and team player.

    Sr. Systems Administrator

    ThinkGeek is looking for a Sr. Systems Administrator to be responsible for all systems monitoring applications. The members of our infrastructure support team an integral part of ThinkGeek’s success.  They maintain all technology hardware/software in use at ThinkGeek.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Configure, manage, and maintain a Linux, Apache, server environment supporting a high volume ecommerce site
    • Monitor performance and resource utilization of physical servers, virtual servers, storage, etc.  Identify resource and performance issues; make and implement recommendations to resolve those issues
    • Configure and manage server management agents and logging
    • Perform basic System Administration functions including: hardware installation, OS installation, OS configuration, Driver updates, Firmware updates, and Patch installation
    • Perform compilation, installation, configuration, and administration functions for Apache web server
    • Work closely with 3rd party hosting providers
    • Manage Security of the Operating Systems
    • Develop documentation on system administration processes and procedures.  Assist in educating others in the IT Department as well as End-users
    • Comply and enforce established security standards to satisfy PCI-DSS requirements
    • Comply with the established computing controls in order to satisfy Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
    • After hours work is occasionally required.  This is estimated at an average of 1-2 hours per week from home.  In addition, the sys admin may be asked to work odd hours or on the weekend as the business requires. 
    • Ability to implement automation tasks in the Unix environment

    Education & Experience Requirements

    • Solid experience managing Linux in a distributed structure is a must
    • Working knowledge of MySQL also required
    • Hardware clustering, load balancing, and virtualization (VM Ware, virtualbox, xen, etc.) are all plusses
    • Experience with perl is preferred
    • Analytical skills and a desire to learn the business processes that they will be supporting  
    • Ability to interact with end business users and application developers

    UI/UX Designer

    The ThinkGeek UX Overlords are seeking a UI/UX Designer to maximize ThinkGeek Awesomeness™ and contribute to our unique online customer experience. 

    We are looking for a creative and energetic individual deeply immersed in User Centered Design who understands how to wear the multiple hats of front-end web work to help create swoon-worthy experiences with a customer-centric focus. As a candidate, you must be able to work well in multi-disciplinary groups including technical, business, design, operations and customer experience.  You should be comfortable working in an environment that feels like a startup, but is also a mature, widely known leader in the eCommerce space.  You should like to have fun, dress casually, test out gadgets and toys on occasion, play with dogs and work really hard.

    You should:

    • Design clean, fresh and current user interfaces regardless of device (mobile/desktop/tablet/etc.).
    • Develop organized, standards-compliant front-end code.
    • Be knowledgeable and excited about the future of HTML5 and CSS3, and be able to write cross-browser-friendly code by hand.
    • Know your way around project management, including juggling multiple parts of a project and keeping up to date with all the moving parts.
    • Be able to speak the language of back-end engineers, internal business clients and our customers.
    • Be proactive.
    • Understand customer needs and work with team members to design device-agnostic online user experiences.
    • Know where all the magic whistles are in Super Mario Bros. 3.

    The kinds of things you'll likely do in this position:

    • Collaborate with, and support the Customer Experience team to execute both large and small-scale projects in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Use HTML, CSS, and JS to develop new pages, templates, and site content to continuously improve the ThinkGeek site experience.
    • Execute day to day tasks and content updates to keep the site fresh.
    • Assist in the building and launching of landing pages and site-wide promotions.
    • Help the optimization team conduct on-site testing and conversion optimization through installing A/B and Multivariate tests.
    • Assist with user research and data collection as needed (site heat maps, site metrics via Omniture, surveys, etc.)
    • Help identify opportunities to improve the usability of customer interactions.
    • Work with other visual designers, web developers, and programmers to achieve strong visual and technological solutions without sacrificing user experience.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • 3-5 years of web design / front-end development experience.
    • Strong HTML, CSS, and JS knowledge
    • Visual design experience a must
    • Experience in a fast-paced, retail eCommerce environment preferred
    • Experience with Agile development methodology
    • Experience with standard design, documentation, and web analytics tools (Adobe, etc.)
    • Keen sense of customer experience and customer needs
    • Experience working on transactional Web sites or software applications is preferred
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
