    Director of Licensing

    ThinkGeek is looking for an experienced Director of Licensing to manage and grow our merchandise licensing program, focusing on strategic planning, business development, and vendor relationship management.   This position reports to the VP of Merchandising and Product Management.

    What you will be doing:

    • Developing brand-aligned licensing strategy to meet and exceed revenue targets.
    • Researching brands, products, and companies to indentify and assess new licensing program opportunities and partners.
    • Maintaining and growing existing relationships. 
    • Negotiate and review business terms and contracts, partnering with Legal to finalize.
    • Partnering with Custom Manufacturing Team to review and approve product design for merchandise under license.  
    • Attending annual licensing and trade shows as necessary. Ensuring visibility of licensed products.
    • Providing mentorship and guidance to one (1) Licensing Coordinator.

    What we’re looking for:

    • Proven success in developing and managing a successful licensing program. Established industry contacts.
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
    • 8+ years related experience in merchandise licensing or related field required.
    • Retail / e-commerce experience strongly desired
    • Exceptional leadership skills
    • Strong and agile work ethic that allows you to quickly adapt to changing situations/trends
    • Ability to deal with vendors (via phone and in person) in difficult circumstances with complete professionalism

    E-Commerce Marketing Manager, Marketplace Development

    ThinkGeek, the premier e-tailer serving the global geek community (Internet Retailer #185), is seeking an E-Commerce Manager, Marketplace Development to launch and manage third-party marketplace channels.

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing, the E-Commerce Manager will be responsible for maximizing sales through eBay initially with the potential to expand to other marketplaces. The successful candidate has impeccable project management skills and is experienced at driving operational excellence in a digital environment.

    The E-Commerce Manager will launch the marketplace before the holiday season of 2014 in coordination with internal and external partners and then excel at the daily management of product feeds and listings, marketing campaigns, coordination with customer service, and analysis of customer purchase behavior. The successful candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and manages high-volume work with impeccable accuracy. Above all, they are driven by the opportunity to own and manage the sales for a new channel.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with internal IT and creative resources, build and launch eBay storefront for ThinkGeek
    • Using third-party software, effectively manage listings and product feed to ensure accurate listings with a high potential to appear in relevant search results on eBay
    • Coordinate closely with merchandising and inventory to implement pricing strategy effectively and drive conversion.
    • Read and react to business on a daily basis, including but not limited to implementing changes to product titles, descriptions, and pricing
    • Maximize reach within eBay by utilizing all available marketing tools
    • Utilize Daily Deals to drive traffic and conversion for key listings
    • Coordinate with Merchandising and Inventory to test clearance-related strategies
    • Develop and manage timely response and/or resolution processes with customer service and social marketing team around marketplace issues related to customer feedback through social media and other channels
    • Provide the Customer Service and Warehouse Operations teams with actionable insights into customer ratings and feedback in order to achieve Top Seller Status for ThinkGeek on eBay
    • Report on daily sales metrics as well as analyze sales patterns by category and top-selling items
    • Work with analytics and customer marketing team to understand the percentage of new customers that come through eBay as well as repeat buyers within eBay and through the ThinkGeek website.

    Skills and Requirements

    • 3-5 years of e-commerce experience in marketing
    • Experience with third-party channels such as affiliate marketing strongly preferred
    • Experience working with third-party marketplace tools such as ChannelAdvisor, Mercent, or Solid Commerce desired
    • Working knowledge of basic e-commerce concepts around the relationship between sales and margin
    • High proficiency with Excel
    • Experience with high-throughput processes where accuracy is critical
    • Excellent skills in collaboration and influence both internally and with external partners
    • Strong communicator and team player.

    FP&A Analyst

    The Analyst will work with the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to develop financial models and ad-hoc analysis to provide executive leadership with the appropriate analytical tools and resources to measure the performance of the company’s retail operations objectives.  The Analyst will be integral in creating forecast/budgets and implementing/maintaining financial planning and reporting software i.e. Adaptive Planning and NetSuite.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Participate in short and long range financial planning and forecasting and prepare strategic ad-hoc analysis.
    • Perform monthly variance analysis of actual results to budgeted/forecasted performance and make recommendations.
    • Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process (i.e. preparing Board of Directors materials, ad-hoc reporting, and revenue/expense analysis).
    • Work with business partners to optimize processes while ensuring operational processes are aligned with financial and systematic processes.
    • Create, review, and edit reports ensuring accuracy and functionality based on business requirements.
    • Provide day-to-day support for Adaptive Planning.  Optimize and refine Adaptive Planning model to provide new functionality and follow best practices.
    • Participate in special projects as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, and related field or equivalent experience required.
    • 2-4 years financial analysis experience required.
    • Deductive reasoning skills and a high level of intellectual curiosity and analytical ability.
    • Ability and desire to learn the business and its cost drivers in order to clearly explain the story behind the numbers, not just report the numbers.
    • Ability to work with large amounts of multi-faceted data to create insightful and meaningful information used in driving sound business decisions.
    • Ability to manage multiple initiatives at one time and successfully meet deadlines with little supervision.
    • Desire and aptitude to work independently, communicate effectively and concisely, demonstrate high level of personal accountability, lead collaboratively, and apply critical thinking and sound judgment when faced with unstructured situations.
    • Knowledge of GAAP and common accounting terminology.
    • Knowledge of Adaptive Planning, Excel, NetSuite, and SQL strongly preferred.

    What you’d be doing:

    • Working with internal and external resources to ensure on-time delivery of products
    • Preparing project status, risks, and issues reports and track project metrics and trends
    • Ensuring that the delivered project remains within budget, is delivered on time, and achieves quality criteria
    • Understanding the project life cycle and taking responsibility for the full life-cycle of assigned projects
    • Communicating with overseas vendors via e-mail and phone to coordinate projects

    What you'd be doing: 

    • Planning sales and inventory strategy for the business; creating assortment plans and purchase orders in accordance with fiscal responsibilities and revenue targets
    • Partnering with VP of Planning and Merchandising on planning and executing strategy for managing and growing apparel line
    • Balancing overall inventory levels to achieve highest return on investment
    • Maximizing sales and inventory by managing allocation strategy, consolidation, and model stock levels 
    • Consistently reviewing & reacting to sales performance and selling reports; generating pricing and consolidation directives ensuring greatest sells and margin potential; partnering with Director of Planning on communicating and executing directives
    • Partnering with Sourcing, Product Development, Customer Service and Distribution Center to ensure timely delivery dates; communicating needs/strategies with the operations team
    • Planning and executing pricing strategies for greatest margin potential
    • Selecting products for promotional events and communicating with Marketing and Operations on Event Strategy

    What we're looking for: 

    • 5+ years of prior experience in retail buying
    • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant Retail applications (Knowledge/experience in AS400 and Island Pacific preferred)
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to multitask
    • Ability to lead, coach and develop staff to improve performance and achieve professional goals
