We're a society that loves instant feedback. We want to teleport to work. We want hot meals and hot Earl Grey tea delivered through a replicator. And for some squishy geeks, we want to lose weight... like, yesterday. There are lots of diets out there that will deliver near instant results, but who wants to drink lemon juice and cayenne pepper all day? Or eat cabbage soup? Ew.
