Warp speed to the 3rd dimension!
If you've come this far, you love Star Trek - or perhaps you know someone who does - or maybe you hate Trek like a tribble hates Klingons. It's ok - we don't judge. If you're a member of the first two groups - welcome! Take your boots off, have a nice tall glass of tranya and listen up: 21st century posters are as dull as Doctor Fassbinder's dissertation on the ionization effect of warp nacelles. They lack depth - by that I mean they are simply two dimensional.
Don't get me wrong - a really good shot of what we call "starship porn" can liven up any flat surface, but it's just so... well, flat! Sure, there are 3D effects available with the use of red/blue paper glasses. Those are uncomfortable, impractical, and the color filters too harshly change the tone of the image. If Star Trek has its way, it'll be three hundred years before we get decent holodeck technology. I don't know about you, but I can't wait that long.
Here are three pieces of magnificent 3D artwork: One shot each of the Original Series Enterprise, the Enterprise E battling the Borg, and one of the J.J. Abrams Enterprise rising out of the rings of Saturn. All rendered in 3D using advanced 24th century holographic technology *. Yep, good old force-fields and photons **. It's difficult to relay using two dimensional jpgs just how cool these posters are. We tried to represent them using red/blue filters - grab a pair of 3D glasses that utilize the red/blue technology and go "oooooh!"
Remember! Our posters don't use red/blue! Ours require no glasses to look awesome! Check out the Additional Images link to see examples of how the posters would look in red/blue 3D!
* - By "holographic technology" we mean lenticular lenses, not actual holograms.
** - A total lie. Still lenticular lensing, but it's still amazing in person.
