Resistance is delicious.

In the 24th century, the Borg are preternaturally interested in assimilating Earth. Nobody was quite sure why - Earth's technology was far behind the Borg's own. There were plenty of humanoids all over the galaxy, so why try again and again to assimilate Earth? It made no sense at all. That is, until, Federation scientists happened across a small colony in a hidden corner of space filled with assimilated chickens.

You heard right - Borg chickens. Small, mostly flightless avians fully integrated into Borg cybernetic implants. For some reason that still eludes us, chickens are unusually well suited to assimilation by Borg nanoprobes. Enormous buildings, all cube shaped, crammed full of evil cybernetic chickens, were discovered. It was a frightening sight. Even the eggs laid by the Borgified chickens were cube shaped.

As it happened, the cubed eggs were especially delicious. The cube shape was exceedingly practical because the angular eggs wouldn't roll off of serving trays. The chickenborg ignored the first batch of scientists encroaching upon their nests to harvest their eggs, but as the popularity of cubic eggs increased, so did the ire of the chickenborg. The resulting battle was a disaster for the Federation.

Now, we steer clear of the chickenborg, though our appetite for cube eggs has not waned. We've since learned how to make regular eggs into cube-shapes. This acrylic gadget takes hot and peeled hard-boiled eggs and smashes them into cubes, just like the chickenborg. The same technique makes super cool sushi, and cube-shaped stratafied hors-d'oeuvres.

Our lesson was learned - avoid the chickenborg if we can come up with our own solutions. There's no doubt about it: when it comes to deliciousness, resistance is definitely futile.
