If you could take a classic classic board game and mix it with classic sci-fi what would you do? We thought about this for a long time, and we came up with Chutes and Facehuggers. Ok, that would probably be a lot of fun but then someone walked in with Star Trek Monopoly and we were spared emotional pain of crafting dialogue like, "You broke the seal on your space helmet. The Xenomorph egg is going down, down, down."
In this custom edition Monopoly, nearly every element of the game has been redesigned: Properties, Money, Houses, Hotels, Community Chest, Chance, Utilities, Railroads, Tokens. Instead of the old stand-by tokens you'll have your choice of Vulcan Harp, Phaser, Communicator, Klingon Blood Wine Goblet, Shuttlecraft, or Captain's Chair. The Captain's Chair is Kirk's not Pike's. Still awesome, but well... who wouldn't want to be Captain Pike? Still, the game includes 22 properties from the complete Star Trek Continuum. Buy, Sell, and Trade properties from homeworlds like Vulcan, Andoria, and Cardassia Prime. Starships stand in for Railroads. You get the idea.
All the standard rules of Monopoly apply, even the the "Speed Play" rules. So, while NCC-1701's original mission was scheduled for 5 years, your games will only take that long if you follow the Ferengi's 285 Rules of Acquisition.

Since the game board features Captain Jean-Luc Picard, surrounded by Captains Kirk, Sisko, Janeway, and Archer, we figure that you can always strike up a lively discussion of [FILL IN THE BLANK] WAS THE BEST CAPTAIN EVAR!!1! Please note that the phaser token does not actually function so you cannot stun the player who steadfastly defends Captain Archer.
