Reinventing the (training) wheel

We've found yet another thing that belongs in the Where Was This When WE Were Kids? category. Let's assume your parents pried you away from your console, pulled your nose out of The Complete Psionics Handbook, and forced you into the great outdoors. If they're anything like our parents, they even locked us out of the house until sundown with nothing to drink but a pitcher of watery Kool-aid that was inevitably festooned with dead bees by 3 pm. But anyway, you probably learned how to ride a bicycle, a process that involved training wheels, which were fine as long as you didn't want to make any sudden turns. But really, how annoying was it that you pretty much had to re-learn how to ride once the training wheels came off? What's the point of training wheels that don't TRAIN you to ride a bike?

Thank goodness science has stepped in to rectify this problem for our geeklings. Gyrowheel will help your wee geek learn to ride a two-wheeler quickly and safely. Here's how the magic works: inside the wheel is a disk that spins independently. When you power the disk on it creates gyroscopic precession, which is fancy science talk for a force that stabilizes the bike. That's right - with Gyrowheel running, the bike will be incredibly stable even at low speeds. When your child wobbles, Gyrowheel compensates to keep the bike balanced. As your child gets less wobbly, you can turn down the level of assistance and - insert evil laugh - they won't even notice! No more tricking your kid that you're really holding the seat; just stealthily reduce the stability settings until they're balancing and riding all on their own.
