Tie Down
As geeks, we tend to carry around a lot of gadgets: pocket tools, pens, flashlights, etc. In our vehicles, however, we tend to haul around big gadgets and lots of other fun stuff: lumber, giant gears, full size catapults, and more. Sometimes the stuff we lug is really difficult to keep from sliding all over the place. Really, have you ever tried to cart a crate of ion engines around on the back of a 1955 Lincoln Futura? Danged impossible - unless you have some rope and a Figure 9 Carabiner to help you tie it all down, that is.
The Figure 9 tie down is a fascinatingly simple tool. It has a clip on one end and a weird shape on the other. Rope wraps and then tightens around the weird shape, so you can secure the rope without tying a knot in it! There are a myriad of ways you can wrap rope around it to tie down (or tie up) a limitless supply of stuff. And nice instructions are included, since there are just too many options to write about here. With some of these strapped to your utility belt, your sidekick will be saying, "Holy Tightened Rope, [your name here]," in no time.
