Look Ma... No Vinyl

The Pacemaker has turned traditional DJing on its ear and left us dizzy with flat-out amazement. This is one of the coolest professional music gadgets we've ever seen. In a nutshell it's two-turntables in the palm of your hand and some sophisticated computer software to back it up. The Pacemaker analyzes the beats per minute of any songs you store on it's internal 60GB disk. Then you can effortlessly beatmatch any two tracks with zero skill needed. Built-in timestretch means you can increase the speed of a track without increasing the pitch. Add in some amazing effects and you've got a live DJ mix going.

Increase Speed, not Pitch
Certainly one of the most amazing things the Pacemaker does is timestretch the speed of music tracks. When you have two tracks playing at once, you need to ensure they have the same beats per minute before they can be mixed together. The pacemaker makes it super-easy to do this. It displays the current BPM of each track, you can then increase or decrease the BMP of one track to match the other. But unlike a traditional turntable, with the Pacemaker the music does not increase or decrease in pitch. You can take songs with vocals and speed them up. It simply sounds like the vocals are sung faster. This gives you amazing flexibility to live-mix two tracks that would normally be impossible to manage on a regular turntable.

Intuitive Controls
The Pacemaker has a lot it can do, but the interface is laid out in a very intuitive manner. By tapping the bottom control pad or flicking in each of the cardinal directions a different mode can be entered. Then in each mode the pacemaker uses either an up-down finger slide, or a finger rotation for control. A mode switch on the left side allows you to "shift" to another set of controls, effectively tripling the input options.

Ready for real DJs
Just as in a standard DJ configuration you need to preview what you're doing before letting the rest of the room hear it. The Pacemaker lets you do this by having a separate headphone out jack and line-out. The line-out can be hooked to external speakers, while you monitor what's really going on with the headphone out.

Save Everything and Edit it Later
Not only can you perform a live DJ Mix with the Pacemaker, you can also record everything you do as a series of events, then import it into to the free PC or Mac client and tweak your mix further.
