Honoring a legend
General Pharl McQuarrie was an amazing asset to the Rebellion. Sure he just walked from one side of the screen to the other in The Empire Strikes Back, but that walk told a million stories. In his hands were the plans and designs for the entire universe. For General Pharl McQuarrie was a cameo role for Ralph McQuarrie - concept artist of all that is Star Wars. Heck, he was even walking in front of one of his very own matte paintings. Today would have been RMQ's 87th birthday, and although he's known for his work on Star Wars, he also worked on the original Battlestar Galactica TV series, Close Encounters, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Trek IV, and won an Academy Award for Cocoon. So today raise a glass in honor of Pharl... we mean Ralph, and the astonishing visions of the future he shared with us.
