75 years ago today remote computing was demonstrated for the very first time. George Stibitz took a teletypewriter (the input device) to an American Mathematical Association meeting at Dartmouth, New Hampshire. The teletype was connected to his Complex Number Calculator at Bell Labs in New York a few hundred miles south via 28-wire teletype cable. In Stibitz's own words, "Those attending were invited to transmit problems from a Teletype in McNutt Hall to the computer in New York. Answers returned over the same telegraph connection and were printed out on the Teletype." It must have been mind-blowing to witness.

Exclusive Darth Vader Check Print Silk Tie - Loosen to avoid accidental Force Choke

If your images were on you'd see Exclusive Darth Vader Check Print Silk Tie - Loosen to avoid accidental Force Choke

A civilized event is cause for an elegant accessory. Whether it's a wedding, a party to schmooze with investors, or dinner with the CEO, you occasionally need to look dapper. Pull your favorite suit out of its dry cleaning bag because tonight's the night to make an impression. This Darth Vader Check Print Silk Tie is the sixth in our tie-of-the-month series. It's available for purchase from ThinkGeek ONLY in the month of September. This tie is the boldest one we've had so far, although the StarWarsness is pretty subtle in case you have a humorless workplace. Although why you're working for one of those we're not sure. You know, we're hiring....

Ultron Cookie Jar - There are no crumbs in me

If your images were on you'd see Ultron Cookie Jar - There are no crumbs in me

For those of us trying to watch our weight, cookies are the enemy. Well, okay. Our lack of self-control is the enemy. But cookies are a close second. This cookie jar will help remind you of that each time you reach in for a snack. The super-shiny head of Ultron from Avengers: Age Of Ultron protects your cookies with this Ultron Cookie Jar. The finish is particularly nice because we suspect it will show fingerprints, so you'll know when folks are stealing your cookies, plus you'll have their fingerprints to hold them responsible. Unfortunately, you won't have the cookies themselves, which is the most important part of the equation.

Exclusive Hikari: Marvel - Stealth Suit Iron Man - Limited to just 500!

If your images were on you'd see Exclusive Hikari: Marvel - Stealth Suit Iron Man - Limited to just 500!

The stealth suit: for when you need to infiltrate a fortress, or just when you want to get around town without tourists noticing and snapping a lot of photos of you. The bad guys will never see you coming, and John Q. Public will just have to wait until you've got time for an official photo-op. You won't be seeing this black-and-silver Iron Man figure for long, and not just because it's wearing the stealth suit. This Hikari Sofubi (Japanese soft vinyl) figure is super limited edition, with only 500 pieces made, and right here on ThinkGeek is the only place to snag yours. Each Hikari figure is handmade and crafted, and includes a hand-numbered authenticity card.

Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Figures - Darth Masamune, Storm Ashigaru

If your images were on you'd see Bandai Star Wars Movie Realization Figures - Darth Masamune, Storm Ashigaru

These figures bring forth an alternate reality where samurai film mainstay Toshiro Mifune didn't turn down George Lucas's offer to fill the iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the samurai influences of the films were taken to the utmost extreme. Designed by acclaimed artist Takeya Takayuki, there's Darth Vader, as a feudal era samurai general, complete with a lightsaber katana and his distinctive armor given the full gusoku make-over. The Ashigaru (foot soldier) Stormtrooper's off-white armor gives you the distinct impression that it was intricately carved and molded from bone, and that it's seen many battles. Fully articulated with soft plastic parts, these figures are near-infinitely poseable, so you can recreate any scene from Star Wars or your favorite samurai films.

Exclusive Marvel Performance Polos - Be an office hero

If your images were on you'd see Exclusive Marvel Performance Polos - Be an office hero

Sometimes it's difficult to display your fandom in a stuffy corporate, buttoned-up workplace. These new, ThinkGeek-exclusive performance polos give you some options for wearing your fandom on your sleeve, literally. These 3-button 100% polyester polos feature tone-on-tone embroidery on both sleeves. Choose Captain America in navy blue, Iron Man in deep red, or the Avengers in black. Just don't be surprised when they call on you for some office heroics.

Ghostbusters Titans Collection Blind Box Vinyl Figures - Who you gonna small?

If your images were on you'd see Ghostbusters Titans Collection Blind Box Vinyl Figures - Who you gonna small?

Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or any member of your family ever seen a spook, specter, or ghost? If the answer is yes, then don't wait another minute. Pick up your mouse and order these Titans Ghostbusters. They're ready to believe you! Each of these three-inch-tall vinyl figurines comes to you blind-boxed, which means they are chosen randomly. So when you open the box you don't know if it's going to be Zeddmore (yay!) or Zuul (boo!). We recommend opening them in a well-lit area with a tiny proton pack handy. It's better to be safe than sorry.

The Dark Knight's Utility Belt Prop Replica - Epic storage for your Batarangs

If your images were on you'd see The Dark Knight's Utility Belt Prop Replica - Epic storage for your Batarangs

DC Collectibles makes it clear that this Batman Utility Belt Prop Replica is intended for display. It even comes on an oversized display mount. But this is also an epic piece to add to your cosplay closet, should you have the need for it. The belt's non-adjustable, so it's going to have to fit you out of the box. Or, you know, you could slim down or bulk up for the costume. We've done it before. Swimsuit body? Whatever. But we'll workout for the sake of a costume every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

tinyTesla Musical Tesla Coil Kit - Make sparks fly!

If your images were on you'd see tinyTesla Musical Tesla Coil Kit - Make sparks fly!

We're pretty dang excited when we get to offer you something we really want for no good reason. Since you first saw one, haven't you always wanted your own Tesla coil, too? Those signature purple discharge sparks and plasma streamers of ionized particles make our fingers tingle just thinking about them. Here's your chance to own one. The tinyTesla Musical Tesla Coil Kit lets you learn about alternating-current electricity in a hands-on manner that's easily accessible and not intimidating. As long as you can do basic soldering, you'll soon be making beautiful music with your own Tesla coil with this kit.

Adventure Time Coloring Journal - Algebraic algebra notes

If your images were on you'd see Adventure Time Coloring Journal - Algebraic algebra notes

Brave hero, though we knowest that you will duly ignore this copy, yet we are writing it for you, anyway. You will have many adventures, maiming the wicked and whatnot, but sheath your sword for now, because it cannot help you all the time. You are just going to need a trusty notebook to jot down all of the details of your adventures. Couldn't hurt to also have a pen for doing the writing, as well as a ruler and a bookmark handy. You never know when you might run into one of those monsters with a weakness against office supplies, after all!

Raven Ear-wing Ear Wrap - Dark wings, dark words

If your images were on you'd see Raven Ear-wing Ear Wrap - Dark wings, dark words

Wouldn't it be fun to have your own raven, trained like the ones from Game of Thrones? You could send it to Starbucks to fetch you a coffee. (And they'd send an orange one out at the start of Pumpkin Latte season.) You could send it out with your party acceptances or declines instead of clicking the dropdown on Facebook. Oh wait. Even better. You know who we'd send ours to? We'd send it to folks who ignore our email. Good luck ignoring this one. This Raven Ear-wing Ear Wrap, made from blackened English pewter, is made for the left ear.

Tesla Watch - Pre-order available!

If your images were on you'd see Tesla Watch - Pre-order available!

Timmy doesn't like to namedrop (oh wait - yes he does), but you might have seen this on Woz's wrist. The Tesla Watch goes with your steampunk aesthetic. With a weathered-brass look on all the metal parts, this analog watch features a leather strap. The highlights of this design, however, are the two faux vacuum tubes with red LEDs inside that you can turn on and off with the flick of a switch. Everybody will want to ask you what time it is so they can see your watch. Just remember to follow the answer with, "... 1875."
