Today marks the 70th anniversary of the dedication of IBM's Automatic Sequence Controlled Calculator (ASCC), better known as the Harvard Mark I. It spent its infancy solving wartime problems for the U.S. Navy. Our coding loops and patches of today were both quite literal for the Mark I, created by looping the instruction tape back on itself to repeat a sequence or patching errant holes in the punched instructions with adhesive instead of repunching the entire thing. So next time you install a patch, think of the Harvard Mark I.

The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie comes out tomorrow, and we've been thinking about how TMNT has been part of our lives - ever since two guys had a brainstorming session and made each other laugh. We've also realized how the be-shelled foursome always triggers an almost primal craving for pizza! So, we thought it would be fun to send some pies to a few lucky folk in honor of opening weekend. Stroll down memory lane with us for more details.

New Limited Edition Video Game Goodies - Awesome Extras

If your images were on you'd see New Limited Edition Video Game Goodies - Awesome Extras

Elder Scrolls Online and Wolfenstein: The New Order are two games that pack in tons of details. And the only real way to explore all that hard work and all those details is with augmented game materials such as these sets. The Heroes Guide to Elder Scrolls Online has three books: a trek by a group of Nord hunters, an Imperial catalog of weapons and armor, and the journal of a wizard's apprentice. The Wolfenstein: The New Order Panzerhund Edition has classified documents, maps, postcards, patches, replica dog tags, and even a vinyl Panzerhund statue - all inside a footlocker-style box. Each set doesn't come with the game, but it comes with things that feel and look like they were pulled out of the games. And those are our favorite sort of collectibles. Now if only we could figure out a way for B.J. Blazkowicz to enter Tamriel!

Star Trek 3-Piece Bath Towel Set - To Boldly Bathe

If your images were on you'd see Star Trek 3-Piece Bath Towel Set - To Boldly Bathe

Everyone aboard the Enterprise is given some standard supplies, including one standard set of bath towels. These bath towels, to be exact. Each is starship grey with various Starfleet approved bits of embroidery on them. And you get three towels in each set: one for your face, one for your hands, and one for your body. Kirk's favorite is the one for your body. In fact, Kirk has two sets of towels hanging in his bathroom at all times. Because sometimes he has to get down and dirty on a planet or two. And sometimes... he has company. Star Trek Bath Towels are perfect for drying your final frontiers.

Star Trek Klingon D'k tahg Letter Opener - For warrior letters

If your images were on you'd see Star Trek Klingon D'k tahg Letter Opener - For warrior letters

The d'k tahg knife is one of the most recognizable weapons the Klingons possess. From the first time we saw it in Star Trek III, we knew it was a weapon of great meaning and power. Of course, the flip-out side blades didn't hurt (well, they sure hurt David Marcus - sorry, too soon). And though we get most of our mail now electronically, there is still a lot of snail mail around an office. For those bits of reproachable snail mail, we now have a way to show it how much it displeases us. With an all-metal d'k tahg letter opener, your mail can be torn into with the true viciousness of a warrior. Junk mail has no honor.

Machine of Death Core Game - Time to die

If your images were on you'd see Machine of Death Core Game - Time to die

You and the other people playing Machine of Death are a highly-respected team of assassins. The Machine of Death, however, already tells people how they are going to die. So, you and your squad already know how your target is supposed to die. You just have to work together to plan out how to make that death happen. This unique card-based game is as morbid as it is funny. If you and your squad can assassinate four people in a row, you win; any failure, and you all lose. The stakes are high when you play Machine of Death, but the rewards and laughs are just as high. All machines need spare parts, and that's why there are expansion decks! Because all card games are better with expansion decks.

Star Wars R2-D2 Kitchen Timer - Ding! Cookies are done.

If your images were on you'd see Star Wars R2-D2 Kitchen Timer - Ding! Cookies are done.

You've heard the joke for ages now, "Come to the Dark Side... We have cookies." But did you ever stop and think how these cookies are being made? Well, here's the skinny: Darth Vader has his momma's recipe for Shmi-tastic Chocolate Chip Cookies, but they have to be cooked for a precise amount of time. Normal droids were not reliable enough for timing the baking, so Vader insisted the Stormtrooper chefs use these R2-D2 Kitchen Timers. Just turn the head to 60 and then set the time you want. When that time has elapsed, you'll be rewarded with 5 seconds of bell ringing. And make sure you heed this timer, because if you Owen-and-Beru your cookies because you let them cook too long, Vader will find your lack of following directions very disturbing. And that's not good for anyone.
