Hi-ho

We've always had a soft spot for Kermit the Frog, that fuzzy green creation of Jim Henson's brain. Today's the 59th anniversary of his debut on our local station here in Washington D.C. Mind you, the cardboard and coat concoction didn't start out as a frog, but instead evolved into one. We love him, no matter what he is. And now, without further ado, let us introduce the rest of the newsletter. *exits, flailing wildly* Yaaaay!

Star Wars Towels - For all the Sandcrawlers

If your images were on you'd see Star Wars Towels - For all the Sandcrawlers

These beach/bath towels let you show off your Star Wars fandom in varying degrees of subtlety. Choose Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Han Solo, or R2-D2. Vader and R2 are both pretty subtle. They take a second to figure out what you're looking at. Chewie less so, but he's awfully darn cute with his bandolier draped across the towel. And Han Solo in carbonite? That's for folks who throw subtle out the airlock.

Skyrunner AeroCraft R/C - Climbing the walls we're so excited

If your images were on you'd see Skyrunner AeroCraft R/C - Climbing the walls we're so excited

This glow-in-the-dark quadcopter is unlike any you've ever seen. While many of our failed R/C helicopter flying attempts leave them grounded, this one is intended to be driven while it's on the ground. Its unique cage structure allows it to climb walls or roll along the ceiling - whatever you demand with the 2.4ghz remote control. Plus the cage not only glows-in-the-dark, but also it helps protect the motor when you crash (cause everybody does).

8-Bit Heart Charm Bead - Press Fire to start

If your images were on you'd see 8-Bit Heart Charm Bead - Press Fire to start

Sometimes we get all nostalgic for the "good old days" of video game consoles, when they all came prepackaged with two joysticks (implying interaction with other humans) and required some pretty intense suspension of disbelief. This 8-Bit Heart Charm is pewter with a sterling silver coating and red enamel on one side. It hearkens back to a simpler time when aliens always invaded from the top of the screen and plumbers got a lot of coin for their services. Hmm. Angie's List says that last one still happens....

Star Trek Starfleet Guitar Pick Set - Spock n' Roll

If your images were on you'd see Star Trek Starfleet Guitar Pick Set - Spock n' Roll

Let's make a little parallel here: science fiction is a lot like rock and roll. Both stand on the foundations of history (science or music) and then leap into the imagination of what could be. That's why rock and sci-fi go well together. Time to use your sci-fi love to actually rock out with the Star Trek Starfleet Guitar Pick Set. Each set includes twelve delta shield-shaped picks - four of each insignia: Command, Science, and Engineering. The picks are medium gauge, so they're perfect for both acoustic and electric. Star Trek Guitar Picks are perfect for anything you want to play, from your favorite filk song to a top 40 intergalactic rock song to a rousing rendition of "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins."

FireKnife - Sandvik Steel Knife With Fire Steel Insert

If your images were on you'd see FireKnife - Sandvik Steel Knife With Fire Steel Insert

When you put them together, fire and a knife are two pretty powerful game-changers. And they look good clipped to your belt. The half-tang, 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel blade comes from Mora of Sweden, and the FireSteel inserts securely into handle of the knife with bayonet-lock action, producing 5,400° F sparks 3000 times over. And when you've made 3000 fires? You can replace just the FireSteel and keep using the same knife you've come to love.

Fighting Stickmen Bookends - Take THAT, literature!

If your images were on you'd see Fighting Stickmen Bookends - Take THAT, literature!

Books are lovely things. They're full of words (and sometimes, when we're lucky, pictures) and they take us places and teach us things we never knew existed. Books are our friends. But just like our human friends, sometimes our books fall on us when we make too big a stack of them. So, it's time to keep our books in place with the power of kicking! With these bookends, you don't even have to do the kicking yourself. Just set them on either side of your books and their frozen, implied threats of violence will keep your tomes from stirring. Do we recommend this tactic to keep your pile of friends from falling on you? Nah. For that pile, try hugs!

Portal 2 1/6 Scale Designer Figures - Confetti, backstabbing, and batteries not included

If your images were on you'd see Portal 2 1/6 Scale Designer Figures - Confetti, backstabbing, and batteries not included

Portal 2 was one of our favorite video games ever. We especially loved the co-op mode, starring robots Atlas and P-Body (or blue and orange, if you're GLaDOS). They're on a mission to rescue some humans that are trapped in a secret chamber GLaDOS can't open. There's running, there's dancing, there's high-fiving, there's confetti. And then there's the backstabbing. We're pretty sure every co-op video game could be improved with the addition of confetti and backstabbing. These 1/6 scale Atlas and P-body figures come with blueprints and their own light-up, removable Aperture Science Handheld Portal Devices. Each bot has a light-up LED optical sensor which features its particular animated boot-up sequence. Confetti, backstabbing, and batteries not included.

The Original Chicken Bag - Yup, we said "Chicken Bag"

If your images were on you'd see The Original Chicken Bag - Yup, we said Chicken Bag

We're all aflutter about this bag. It's an eggcellent conversation starter. And though it might raise a few eyebrows and ruffle a few feathers, it'll quickly identify fowl people without a sense of humor you should stay away from. Don't brood too much over them. Or maybe fly against protocol and start the conversation yourself, because sometimes you're just going to have to wing it. (Ed. note: Sorry for our poultry attempt at humor there.)
