Greetings, Literate Beings of Earth!
What a busy weekend! We sent Timmy clones to Dragon*Con and PAX and then it was off to the outer rim to pick up the latest shipment from the Hoth Department of Natural Resources. After that, a quick joy ride in the DeLorean to the coin-op Golden Age, and on the way home we fought a Balrog for some barware (souvenirs, you know).
At least we had something to read on the trip: the Hugo Award winners were announced at AussieCon 4. Props to them and thanks for making this plane of existence a little more existable!

Having these Atari Wall Graphics around is making us all nostalgic for the days when the world was simpler. You were a bunch of squares shooting squares at other squares. If you lean back in your ergonomic desk chair and reminisce about days of yore, use code PONG for $10 off a $30 order, good through 9/10/10 at 11:59 PM ET. http://www.thinkgeek.com/

The problem with the majority of collectible glassware is that most companies just print things on the outside of the glass. This looks all fine and good for a while, but if you're using the glass frequently, one day you're going to realize that Wonder Woman no longer has a midsection or that Yoda's face is blurred like he's in the witness protection program. Etched glasses, such as these fine ale-toting types, are clearly THE WIN when it comes to collectible glassware. Because the artwork is etched directly into the glass, the wear-and-tear of normal use will not affect them like their poorly-painted brethren. Huzzah! Now you just need to choose your favorite tavern: are you a Prancing Pony, or Green Dragon? http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/mugs/e4f8/

For over 3000 years, humans have been enjoying the health benefits of chocolate--at least in North and South America. (It wasn't until Columbus brought some home before the Europeans got to enjoy it). Nowadays, chocolate is diluted and polluted from its heartier, nude form. Time to travel back in time, when chocolate was chocolate. Time to get this kit and experiment with raw cocao and all natural sweeteners. Time to mix some chocolate like the Olmecs enjoyed, and taste the past. http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/wacky-edibles/dbfc/

Remember the monster analog synths of old? We grabbed a shrink ray and zapped this one down to handheld size. Yep, it's the same classic analog filter found in the legendary Korg MS-10 & MS-20! Just shrunk! The true analog Monotron will fit into your pocket and is ready to play anytime, anywhere. Dazzling and huge sound comes out of this tiny package, which is a real blast to play. All the controls have been streamlined for ease of use, even if this is your very first synth. The Monotron's panel focuses on the most important sound parameters, so there are only five knobs and one switch. Easy enough for a young dabbler in electronic music or an old geezer wanting to reclaim youth and rock. http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/musical-instruments/e0db/

To paraphrase Yoda, the Force is a powerful ally. It surrounds us and binds us. It is all around us, everywhere--just like Star Wars merchandise! Whether you're looking for backpacks that looked ripped from the screen (Boba Fett Plush Rocket Backpack), rugs that look skinned from the screen (Wampa Rug), or just big ol' character plush (Giant Star Wars Collector Plush), we've got you covered. Because the Star Wars universe (Jar-Jar excepted) is a fun one to play in, and surrounding ourselves with Star Wars stuff just makes our Wookiee purr. http://www.thinkgeek.com/star-wars-plush.shtml

Nowadays, the most dangerous thing in your car is your cell phone. It's so tempting to surf the internet and drive. We figure cops have laptops in their cruisers, right? We should get the internet too! ThinkGeek does not advocate texting or surfing or even talking while driving. For some of you, chewing gum while driving is also right out. But we happen to have this handy kit that charges and holds your iPhone in a big friendly hug, keeping it safe and within hand's reach while you drive. But seriously, hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, son! http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/car/dbcf/

Technology is awesome, but can we trust it? How can we be sure that our cell phones aren't recording our brain waves and transmitting our ideas to evil corporations? How can we be sure that our watches aren't silently recording our pulses and sending the data to Big Food so they know when to advertise those juicy bacon cheeseburgers on TV and ruin our diet plans? Part of our paranoid plan is eschewing traditional watches for the sundial. Inspired by designs from Babylonia, Egypt, the Celts of Northern Europe, the Mayans and Incas and Aztecs, we've found the most imaginative and accurate wearable sundials anywhere. Guaranteed to work as long as the sun rises... and we don't want to think about the day that stops happening. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/watches/e56d/

Working long hours at your computer, productivity can be had with adequate focus. Focus can be found by drowning out the hubbub of the office with your own music. Problem is, your coworkers may not find your musical tastes useful for their own focus. Consequently, headphones are a must--but, when somebody actually has to talk to you, off come the 'phones. Not anymore! These headphones are designed with 'open-aire' cans so you can still communicate without removing them. Comfortable enough to wear all day, and plays wireless uncompressed audio transmitted up to 320 feet! http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/speakers/headsets/e3d0/

It all started when a lone Japanese researcher, Shuji Nakamura, began working on developing a bright blue LED. After eight years of research the commercial blue LED was created. Two years later he had developed the diode for producing a blue laser: using gallium nitride crystals (instead of zinc selenide), he was able to solve a problem that larger companies had been working on for years. The much shorter wavelength of the blue laser is what enabled the next generation of high definition DVD players to come to market, and it also completes the trilogy of basic colors (red, green, blue) now available for handheld laser pointers. The 447 nanometer blue laser light is sure to make all other laser pointers green with envy. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/e589/

We knew it was coming. Eventually, someone would come up with an awesome way for us to connect our electric guitars and basses right into our iPhones. AmpliTube iRig is a combination of an easy-to-use instrument interface adapter and guitar and bass tone mobile software. With AmpliTube iRig, you can plug your guitar into your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad and jam anywhere with world class guitar and bass tone right in the palm of your hand. Simply plug the iRig interface into your mobile device, plug your instrument into the appropriate input jack, plug in your headphones, amp or powered speakers, download AmpliTube Free for iPhone or for iPad, and start rocking! http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/cellphone/e572/

This LEGO set was released for the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back and features Boba Fett's ship, Slave I, in slightly darker colors than previous LEGO versions. The ship includes flick-fire missiles and other weapons to help you reenact all your favorite scenes: the cockpit houses 4 missiles and 2 additional missiles are in the tail. The set comes with 3 mini-figs--our favorite part of this set! The Boba Fett mini-fig is amazingly detailed, right down to the damage on his helmet; it's the most detailed Boba Fett mini-fig we've seen. Han Solo has his scruffy shirt painted perfectly and fits into the carbonite shell for maximum fun! Bossk is a lovely shade of green. Slave I or no Slave I, the mini-figs are spectacular and will probably be the collector's items from this set. http://www.thinkgeek.com/geek-kids/7-13-years/d47b/

It's a rare thing--the kitchen gadget that works well and still looks good, so ThinkGeek is in constant search mode for that perfect item. It has to do the job to which it was assigned, do it extremely well, and look good while doing it. Fashion is just as useful as function to the modern geek. They require a certain aesthetic to go with their utility. Enter the humble kitchen scale--everyone needs to measure their dry and wet ingredients, but they don't have to be ugly! This scale's bowl inverts so it looks sharp when it's not in use. http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/kitchen/d6de/
