The problem with the majority of collectible glassware is that most companies just print things on the outside of the glass. It all started when a lone Japanese researcher, Shuji Nakamura, began working on developing a bright blue LED. After eight years of research the commercial blue LED was created. Two years later he had developed the diode for producing a blue laser: using gallium nitride crystals (instead of zinc selenide), he was able to solve a problem that larger companies had been working on for years. The much shorter wavelength of the blue laser is what enabled the next generation of high definition DVD players to come to market, and it also completes the trilogy of basic colors (red, green, blue) now available for handheld laser pointers. This LEGO set was released for the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back and features Boba Fett's ship, Slave I, in slightly darker colors than previous LEGO versions. The ship includes flick-fire missiles and other weapons to help you reenact all your favorite scenes: the cockpit houses 4 missiles and 2 additional missiles are in the tail. The set comes with 3 mini-figs--our favorite part of this set! The Boba Fett mini-fig is amazingly detailed, right down to the damage on his helmet; it's the most detailed Boba Fett mini-fig we've seen. Han Solo has his scruffy shirt painted perfectly and fits into the carbonite shell for maximum fun! Bossk is a lovely shade of green.
