The ThinkGeek Newsletter!

September 3, 2008

Dearest fellow purveyors of fine melange,

Welcome yet again travelers to the ThinkGeek newsletter. We would like to thank our sponsor, The Spacing Guild, for bringing you this edition sandworm free. You are most welcome. In other news, if you are a student, ThinkGeek is jealous of you. Sure you're probably broke, but other than that, you are basically living trouble free, without The System attempting to control how many pens you are allocated and how long it takes to eat lunch. Enjoy these days while they last, dear neophytes, and to atone for our untoward enviousness we have decided to to offer you up some truly inexpensive geeked-out swag...

The ThinkGeek T-Shirt Grab Bag

T-Shirt Grab Bag

Get Tees On The Cheap!

It's that time again... time for the ThinkGeek T-Shirt Grab Bag! Reach your hand in and pull out a random shirt. It's like the Deck of Many Things only without the nasty "trapping your soul in another plane accidentally" part. You'll get a genuine ThinkGeek-made shirt that, for one reason or another, we didn't sell in the normal course of ThinkGeek events.

All of the shirts in the grab bag are high quality - not defective or seconds. From time to time, there may even be a stray golf shirt, work shirt, fleece, or hoodie in the grab bag, but you'll never know and neither will we so don't ask! ;-) We start off with both men's and women's selections in all sizes, but once they're gone, they're gone, so shop now....

Win A Limited Edition Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider

Win A Limited Edition Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider

It makes us both sad and excited to mention our old friend Battlestar Galactica in this here newsletter. Sad because it's ending soon (and also because the last season may be delayed until April 2009 - GAH!) but also excited because we have one killer BSG related contest for all you members of the lost 13th tribe. We've managed to secure an amazing hand made scale replica of a Cylon Raider and we're giving it away to one of you lucky children of Kobol. It's only one of 500, it's worth almost $1000, it has cool paint and lighting effects, and it comes with a plaque signed by Katee Sackhoff! Frakking great! Now go enter to win!

Cubed Electronic Puzzle Game - 600 Puzzles, only 4 Cubes

You'd think a puzzle with only 4 pieces would be easy to solve, but you'd be very wrong. Each cube, surrounded on 4 sides by magnetic connectors, displays 1/4 of a puzzle on an LCD screen, and is an enigma unto itself. Which way does it turn? Which cube connects with which? Which of the 600 puzzles is it? The kicker is the instruction manual contains images of all 600 puzzles, but trust us, it doesn't help. And neither does the timer! You only have 45 seconds to solve each puzzle or you are doomed to mediocrity. You don't want that, do ya?

It's a laptop bag! It's a metaphor! It's two treats in one!

It's a laptop bag! It's a metaphor! It's two treats in one!

Laptop computer sales have begun to finally begun to eclipse the mighty desktop computer. Now that you can carry all your files with you, wherever you go, you may as well do so while paying homage to the very metaphor that makes your computer so useful. The My Documents laptop sleeve looks just like that little manilla folder on your computer screen. We've also included a little pixelated cursor pin to drive the concept home. Big enough for a 15" laptop, made from soft protective neoprene, and 100% awesome.

Camping & Outdoor Gadgets - If You Decide To Leave The Computer

For the most part, we aren't exactly your typical outdoor enthusiasts here at ThinkGeek. But many of you seem to be and have asked us to find some unique and gadgety doodads to take on your sorties outside. And with cooler Autumn approaching, if you do decide to leave the safety of your basement - now is an OK time. At least we've read reports. So, without further ado, we bid you take a gander at a bunch of gadgets we've gathered for cooking, eating, relaxing and plain old surviving. Apparently nature is not as evil as previously suspected.

Tsunami from Japan Arrives Stateside

Tsunami from Japan Arrives Stateside

From across the Pacific comes a huge avalanche of new Japanese goodies just for you. Start with the smallest giant robots you will ever see with some fine mini gundams or opt for Japanese mini guns with candy... shotgun or derringer style both with removable bullets. For the Nintendo fanatic we've collected the Zelda Phantom Hourglass Mini Plush, Keychains with built in sounds from Mario Galaxy and some nifty Mario Galaxy Super Balls. The Dragon Ball Z Sound Drops have been the hit of the office with amazing and hilarious fight sounds that escalate in audio ferocity with each push. Of course we've finally succumbed to the luring call of unstoppable cuteness by way of the Hello Kitty Action DJ Speaker.

Doctor Who Laser Battle Set - Laser vs. Sonic Screwdriver

The Doctor and The Master: why do they fight? Is it because one has more of an ability to grow facial hair? Is it because they both had the same amount of education, but only Who can use the appellation of Doctor? No, it's all about the screwdrivers. And now you can share in the fight. Doctor Lazarus has taken Laser Tag-like technology and shoved both blaster and sensor into Sonic and Laser Screwdrivers (you even get a little Toclafane to use for target practice). The winner gets to rule the universe; the loser... doesn't.

Scientists have probed many things, but perhaps the most revealing has been their voyage into the synapses of the feline mind. Without this research, we wouldn't know that cats like cheeseburgers. Nor would we know that cats cannot spell. Scientists have taken this knowledge and created fridge magnets using the cat's own language. Why? Cuz with magnetz with werds, u will be able to talk with your own cats. U makes your own Happy Cat. When they wants a cheezburger they can move the magnetz so u see. Then they can has cheezburger.

GoldKey Personal Security Key - 256bit AES hardware encryption

The late great George Carlin once said about paranoia that you only had to be right once to make it all worthwhile. Nowadays, corporations and government agencies are getting smarter, so you have to keep up if you want to maintain your privacy. This tiny USB thumbdrive doesn't store encrypted data - it IS the encryption. 256bit AES hardware encryption on board locks the files on your own hard-drive, optical media, or memory-stick tight in Windows or Mac, keeping preying eyes out of your bidnez.

Even deadly extraterrestrials with chest-bursting parasitic offspring and acid for blood get some lovin' in the form of the Giant Alien Kubrick. So please, help save a needy monster today... you'll be glad you did.
